Thousands Of Reflections were formed in 2005 and Drones and Sharp Teeth - their first release on Headroom Records - is the sound of a band slowly finding its feet.
The punchy guitar pop of 'Hideouts', with its unexpected twists and turns and eventual bluesy finale, is a promising opener. 'All The East Is Moving' begins with butter-wouldn't-melt-their-mouths balladry and the band sound like they're very nice boys who love their mums very much before exploding into balls to the wall ROCK! With tonsil busting screeching and a big guitar crunch, this borders on the epic and showcases the obvious talent ToR have.
'Auld Pals' however is sadly a bit of a mess. Again, the band attempt the same ingredients as the previous tracks, with thrashy guitars alongside quiet melancholic moments and neat but ultimately needless drum fills. The result is not the same and the EP, after promising a lot, peters out in a slightly limp and disappointing fashion.
The fundamentals are in place for Thousands Of Reflections to grow into a truly great rock band one day. For now though, they do sound a little bit like boys having a go at a man's game.
