A Word Like Attack offer a highly musical take on the post-hardcore sound, with sweet piano and chilling guitars in the quieter sections that explode into magnificent blasts of energy.
'Last Man In Europe' is a confident opener, teasing you with various instrumental hooks before launching into one of the most intense songs on the record, with instruments being stabbed and beated in a strangely beautiful way. It's got more to offer as well from broken sections with electronic drums and samples, but it always slips effortlessly between scuzz-electro and real-band.
The other stunner from this firey five track offering is 'We Searched The City and Found Only Dust', which is a bit more "down to business" but still has the variety and the impact of the opener.
It would be remiss not to at least mention the similarity with Enter Shikari - the fusion of post-hardcore with a wash of electronic accompaniment demands it - but A Word Like Attack have something different to offer with their highly orchestrated musical sections.
