The first few notes of 'The Devil In Me' may resemble a bit of good old power-pop, but it doesn't take long for a powerful driving electro-rock track to take over the speakers.
Despite being a great opener, this song is kicked into touch by the wired sound of 'Shine Tester, Shine Tester'. The guitar intro is like an alarm, warning you that you're about to be hit by an unconventional freight-train of a track.
'Snakes' is a bit more dirty and raw, with a fantastic scuzzy beat. The guitars get a chance to come out and play in the pre-solo break down and this song really stands out.
Final track 'Firebird' takes things down a more serene, but still bright and lively, path. It wanders along oblivious to the rest of the record with some fantastic instrumental sections.
This EP has it all, melody, power and energy in abundance. There are plenty of hooks in these songs even though the songs are far from traditional.
