Dead At The Scene are a technical-metal band with a blistering melodic sound.
'Daae' starts with a teasing bit of guitar before powering into bass-hungry tight guitar licks. The voice echoes the mix of tuneful and blistering.
A heartbeat separates this song from 'Echoes', the briefest of pauses that lets a crack of light fall between the two mountains of noise. This song has more of a chorus, all the more powerful for its melodic interlude.
There's a tidy transition into 'Fireworks', which is a gentle instrumental that precedes one of the most intense tracks on the EP, 'Turns Out He's Luke's Father'.
'Paint The Sky' closes the album on a dark and aggressive song with a slow and ominous rhythm.
This kind of brutal magic isn't everybody's cup of tea, but you have to respect the wire-tight proficiency of this band.
