Gideons Demise

Gideon's Demise are a power-trio from Southampton, with a distinctive sound that plays to the strength of a three-piece line-up.

'Fusion' is a weighty track, it rocks in a quiet but menacing way with angsty lyrics. This is the perfect example of the structure of the band, there is a ton of space inside the song, which rather than sounding empty gives the song it's serious feel.

There's a bit of a beat going on in 'Watch The Sun'. It has some of that danceable Manchester rhythm from the nineties all boiled into with the smoking guitars and strong vocals.

'Take Me Down' has a Longpigs-style beat with something of an Embrace-anthem laid over the top. Don't take the Embrace reference as a bad thing either as this song is far from the murky blandness that can conjure up for some people.

If I could change one thing about this single, I would switch the order of play to front the record with 'Watch The Sun' and I'd save the heavyweight 'Fusion' until last, where it would create a massive impact. When this is the only criticism, you have a good record.
