Ivor Game is an acoustic singer-songwriter of some substance. His 2006 album, Inside, finds the troubadour, who has been touting his wares around the UK, Europe and the US since the bafflingly early age of 10, dealing in short (the longest song here clocks in at a whopping 2 minutes 30 seconds), strongly-melodic bursts of bright sounding acoustic beauty.
With the songs being so short, they are not given a great deal of space to develop. Strong verse and chorus melodies permeate each song here, particularly 'Save Yourself' and the title track, 'Inside'. Because of the nature of his musical style, Ivor's songs tend to blend together somewhat, and there is not much dynamic or tempo range on the record, but from the opening track 'Available' to the closer 'Young Life', fans of folksy acoustic pop will find much to enjoy.
Listening to this album brings to mind the idea of seeing Ivor play in one of those acoustic clubs which have been springing up all over the country recently. His lilting voice and bright pop style could certainly captivate a crowd in the right setting.
This is definitely an album worth seeking out.
