The first thing you hear when listening to the Salisbury based band Jambo Reign is the 1990's style music. The sound of Secrets and Silhouettes demonstrates a case of classic Britpop riffs.
The four-piece band has shown they hold some good song writing skills and excellent talent as musicians. Secrets and Silhouettes, which is out now, contains three tracks all of which possess a different sound and appeal. 'Satellite' is a more mellow song that really boasts the quality of these four musicians. The singer shows he has a classic Britpop voice with all the traits a good singer should own.
'Going There' and '10,000 Miles' are more upbeat with more guitar riffs and some good guitar solos. Although Secrets and Silhouettes displays some great sounds and lyrics it just seems to fail in delivering a catchy song and that all important wow factor.
Britpop was a massive part of the 1990's in fact it dominated the music scene for over a decade. Although this genre still maintains a good steady flow of followers it does seem as though the market for Britpop bands is in less of a demand in the 21st century. Jambo Reign have similar sounds as that of Shed Seven, which makes me wonder what the future holds for this band.
