Jinder

Nine Cents From Benelux looks back over ten years of Jinder's musical life. This autobiographical album is a return to roots for this song writer, who spent the past year fronting The Mercury Men.

Although this record restores Jinder to his acoustic past, the result is more mature, rounded and earthy than the songs we heard five years ago.

It opens with the beautifully plucked acoustic guitar and weathered voice of 'Train In Your Voice'. There's some warm slide-guitar and a hint of some keys to oil the song as it slides through its story.

The songs roll by with each one offering a change in pace, mood and instrumentation. There's the brightness of 'Aimee', the dusty melancholy of 'Vacancy Here' and the wonderful interpretation of Don McLean's 'Vincent' to supply the real highlights, but really there's not a bad song on the whole LP.

Four songs will be floating off of the album and onto singles throughout 2009, but your best bet is to get your fingers on the full LP to really get a taste of some proper Dorset-icana.
