Loopy are back with a brand new album, titled Doing Somersaults and with an album cover demonstrating the very thing.
The opening track is the bouncing pop of 'Somersaults', which is the familiar jangly-Housemartins style that Loopy are known for. What is different this time round is that they've made their hooky-chorus even better than usual.
'Found By You' is a sparkling slow number - an emotive ballad of sorts with another strong chorus.
The album contains a good mix of these two styles, with plenty of carefree pop tones to be found in 'Twenty-One' and 'Love The Way' and a little bit of emotional depth in 'Hearts Pumping'.
I would go as far as saying that this is probably Loopy's best recording to date.
We rated this record 3.5 out of 5.
