Mynas, named after the famous mimicking bird, are a self-confessed bunch of "lazy twats", but they promise to work very hard playing live and plugging this single.
'Retreat' is an instant indie-hit with a casual sound that hasn't been heard since The Divine Comedy. The melody keeps the song together despite quite a thin guitar and bass sound, which Mynas use to good effect. Pleasingly, they don't overplay this track and its short lifespan can only endear the song to all listeners.
There's something Blur-esque about 'The Only Friend You Need' and 'Masons' is a gem disguised as a b-Side.
I hope Mynas do spend some time promoting themselves as they are heading in a good direction with some great tunes.
