Red Lips Waiting are a straightforward rock band from Birmingham. Over-driven guitar chords, a belting rock vocal and thumping drums all contribute to the muddy rock sound.
'Empty City Deathwish' suffers a bit from poor microphone technique, with the vocals fading in and out randomly throughout the song. There's some occasional promise from the guitars and a bit of melody hanging around the edges, but the song needs the chorus to jump out a lot more than it does.
The drums add a bit more flavour to 'Scratch Til' You Bleed', but the vocal disappear in the mix in this song, once again fading in and out as if the microphone is swinging from a ceiling fan.
Someone less charitable would label this record as "pub rock", but I think Red Lips Waiting have got it in them to do a lot better.
