SPR10, Sticky Bud, Do-2x and Nik Bailz all get in on the action for 'Trying Not To Be Like You', a hip-hop song with some slick rapping and gentle melodies.
The verse is substantial and moody, creating a cloudy atmosphere that captures the essence of the lyricism. It gets stronger each time it comes around. This contrasts to the lightness of the sung chorus, which is much softer and melodic.
The piano track loops constantly in the background with just a solid beat and the voices to delineate the various parts of the song. This simplicity helps the song to gel with the different vocal contributors giving each section a distinct flavour.
This is a really strong collaboration with plenty of character.
