The Boy Who Trapped The Sun
Water Mark EP

Wednesday 28th of October 2009

xxxxxxx

Here we have The Boy Who Trapped The Sun, a solo male artist form the Isle of Lewis.

Outdoors walks and fresh air fill the room through 'Leaving'. This is a folky song with simple tones and beautiful harmonies.

The mood calms for 'Eve' adding a moment to pause and fully appreciate the musicianship on offer. This is a song to drift away in the smoke from a camp fire. Marshmallows and hot chocolate included.

'Fragile Eyes' and 'The Water Mark' are the final two acoustic tracks on the EP. The folk element is still strong with lead vocals displaying a timid heartfelt performance.

There isn't really a stand out track on this EP, which isn't a bad thing as this record benefits from the casual flow of acoustic melodies and tranquil whispers. This is a record to drift away to and feed on memories, not one to rock out to.
