The Rileys
Baby Blue

The Rileys have written a good song here, but 'Baby Blue' doesn't come across as dynamically as it ought to on record.
As far as hooks, chorus and something a bit different in the middle, they've hit every target and it is indeed a grand effort. It's one of those occasions, though, that you wish you were walking past the studio when they recorded it and by chance had been asked for an honest opinion.
"Make more of that cello and crank it up a bit in the chorus" I would have said, as this is exactly what is required to send the song right over the edge.
We can't get too tied up on the production though, a diamond is a diamond whether or not it's been cut and polished.
