Two Christmas releases have hit my desk so far this year and both song titles take the form of a question... why is that? Questions aside, The Wombats release 'Is This Christmas?' on 15th December and all the profits will go straight to MENCAP - and Les Dennis will pop up in the video.
This is a rare record - a Christmas single that is first and foremost a reasonable song with the hooks and chorus you'd expect from The Wombats. The lyrics are also deep without getting too depressing and things remain ironic and observant rather than bitter.
We all know that the X-Factor single will be number one for Christmas, but for those of you with your own mind, perhaps The Wombats may tickle your Christmas fancy.
The Wombats will also be releasing their first 'proper' single since their excellent album, 'My Circuitboard City' on February 9th.
