Ancestor Phase 1 Silence is a time consuming 63 minutes long, and with no vocal there's nothing that can keep you from wanting to eject the CD after the first few tracks. This is a classic case of modern-art; if you don't like it, people will claim you don't get it - so people will gush over it as a defensive measure against looking like they don't understand it.
There's no better way of explaining what this LP is about other than quoting the man who created it, Thomas Watkiss "A 63 minute journey of carefully constructed ambience, brooding soundscapes and imminent drones that merge experimental music and sound art in ways not heard before". That says it all really!!!
The production of this CD is beyond me, the glossy CD case and finish of this album is done to perfection, but why? This "out there" piece of artwork can't appeal to the majority of people and even those that are completely barmy wouldn't even want to suffer the droning, static and what can only be referred to as lawn mower noise!
This album is the audio equivalent of the three blank canvasses hung side by side at the Pompidou Center of Paris and due to the longevity of the record, those canvases seem more appealing as you can "get their irony" and be done with them in under a minute.
