Tommy Eye introduces to his rapping and lyricism with his album, Lessons In How To Fly.
After the intro, things really get started with the hip-hop-rock crossover of 'Repeat', featuring Matt Diaper - one of many collaborations on this record. The chorus invades your head through your ears and refuses to be dislodged... uh oh.
'Feel Brand New' keeps things moving - more traditionally hip-hop but still very good indeed and with excellent lyrics.
The three-way vocals in 'Mermaids In Jetpacks' works really well, with Hannah Cope and Andy Dennis supplying the additional melodies. Hannah Cope remains in the mix for the chill-out track 'Sunshine'.
If you like strong lyrics in your hip-hop, 'Trenchcoat' is a hard-hitting social commentary with powerful words.
There are plenty of stand out tracks on this record, with 'Save Me' taking the prize of being my personal favourite with its awesome drum beat and constant state of anticipation.
Tommy Eye is a genuine and authentic hip-hop act with plenty to say. Lessons In How To Fly is an essential urban album.
