Thursday 30th of July 2009
Six Southampton bands are leaving the comforts of the Solent and are embarking on showcasing their talents to the people of London.
Southampton bands Dlugokecki, Kids cant fly, Jokers Hand, The Retake, The Gallery and The Morphic Fields are travelling up with all their fans in coaches, mini-buses and convoys to play Camden's Quirky Purple Turtle Music Venue. The 300 Capacity venue plays hosts to the showcase which is the first of it's kind, allowing local acts the chance to play in the capital and get a chance to go shopping in Camden market!
The Jurassic Mark Invasion of London was an idea conceived by promotions team Jurassic Mark, based at The Talking Heads in Southampton. "A lot of local acts were asking us how they get gigs up in London. It is a very difficult process, you usually have to pay to play, which is ridiculous as it should just be fun". Jurassic Mark is a twice weekly night at The Talking Heads which showcases local bands and acts.
The showcase will feature Dlugokecki, whom recently returned from a USA tour and USA's SXSW Festival supporting The Proclaimers, alongside playing Eastleigh festival supporting British Sea Power.
