News Item

The Secret Garden Party has unveiled the initial music line up for this July's event. Tickets for the event are now on sale via the Secret Garden Party website at £142 + booking fee for an adult weekend ticket.

Blooming this July, Secret Productions have now released tickets for the main event this summer and are pleased to announce the following artists are now confirmed:

Headlining this year will be the multi-sense experience of the Gorillaz Sounds System (DVJ), featuring the music of Gorillaz mixed and remixed with a full visual display, sanctioned by none other than Murdoc Niccols himself. Roland, the official VJ, controls the visual synchs and content along with DJ Kofi, visual and aural mix master extraordinaire! GSS percussionist Remi adds another layer to the DJ performance with a variety of live instruments, while Pauli bangs the drums, no mean feat. With extra "treats" promised, it's sure to be a truly unique experience.

Joining the Gorillaz Sound System is Marina and The Diamonds with one of their few festival appearances, an act tipped by almost every new music pundit from corner to corner of Britain. Mercury Rev, the critically acclaimed winner of NME best album, will make an incredibly rare appearance at a UK festival. They will be joined by ska legends Skatalites and Secret Garden Party's debut signing to its new record label, The Jessie Rose Trip, creating one of the most exciting and eclectic music bills the festival has ever programmed.

The 2010 Theme

The Party is once again set to undergo a transformation, with this years theme unveiled as Fact or Fiction, tearing down the boundaries between the two assumptions.

In 2010 The Secret Garden Party will be prizing open the chinks in man's most carefully constructed edifice; Reality. The Garden will be exploring the theories, fantasies, mysteries, legends, visions and illusions that have created a rich world between Fact and Fiction.

For artists they take inspiration from Heath Robinson, Escher and Dali; from authors and poets they look to H G Wells, Lewis Carol and Coleridge; for inventors and scientists, figures such Da Vinci, the Wright Brothers and pioneering astrophysicists.

From the past, the focus will be on the beliefs, which now seem like pure fiction, but in their day were 'proven fact' the edge of a flat world and the riches of alchemy. For impossibilities of our own world the festival will be exploring urban legends, magic and illusion, geographical twilight zones, conspiracies and mysteries; areas of our culture which defy explanation.

The Secret Garden Party has always been a place where fantastical happenings take place. Join them this summer as they venture beyond the boundaries of reality more than ever!

New for 2010

New this summer is an entire land for young gardeners, featuring Egg Hunts, Fancy Dress, Discos, Kite Flying, Circus shows and workshops, Jewellery Making and Karaoke. For the more mature Gardeners there will be restaurants, food talks, cocktail bars, ale tents, massages and the delights (if your pockets are deep enough!) of the Bellboy-served boutique camp ground.

Also new is the Forest, an area of woodland dedicated to acoustic music, barefoot discos and twilight fire circle tales. Elsewhere on site Gardeners can indulge in Parades, Art tents, Walkabout Theatre and Theatre workshops, Big Wheel Rides, Boat Rides, Swimming, Treasure Hunts, Bands in trees, a festival-wide train service, open mic stages and as always, participatory games of all descriptions. For four days the Garden will be an Imaginarium waiting to be discovered!

Also new this year, the event has launched it's own record label, Garden Records. The first single to be released on the indie will be 'You Won't Forget Me Boy' by The Jessie Rose Trip via download on March 22nd. The track, released by Garden Records alongside Sidewalk 7, will be available to pre-order from Townsend Records website then available from all digital retailers from March 22nd.

Boutique Camping

After the huge success of Boutique Camping in 2009, The Secret Garden Party has advanced things even more, improving the types of accommodation on offer to you, facilities and on-site hospitality.

Boutique camping customers have their own direct road onto the festival site, leading to a private car park, where they are greeted by boutique bellboys, who are on hand to take their luggage. Once booked in with the friendly boutique managers and receptionists, boutique customers have just a moments stroll from their accommodation and straight into the heart of the festival.

Other facilities include their very own Boutique Butlers, available from Midnight - Midday (perfect for those wanting breakfast in bed, or some midnight treats). For those wanting some serious pampering, The Boutique Sanctuary is open from Friday-Sunday with various treatments available from massages to facials, manicures to pedicures. Book your treatments in advance to avoid disappointment!

Tickets for 2010 are on sale priced at £142 + booking fee. That includes camping, parking, fun, frolics plus all the other hidden extras that usually lurk within a ticket price. Campervans however will be charged an additional £45 for the duration (they take up a lot of space). Teen tickets for 13-17 year olds will be £115 plus booking fee, and as per, under 13's get in free, but will still need to secure a ticket.
